Tom Ford Velvet Orchid is categorized as an Oriental Floral scent to the nose based on the mix of components. Antoine Maisondieu, Calice Becker, Shyamala Maisondieu, and Yann Vasnier created the scent composition. In the initial top notes of Velvet Orchid, which also include honey, rum, bergamot, mandarin orange, and vanilla, there are citrus and animal wildlife undertones. While the deep amber and balsam base notes give an impression of suede, labdanum, myrrh, peru balsam, vanilla, and sandalwood, the floral and white flowers heart Centre notes merge in with heliotrope, hyacinth, jasmine, magnolia, narcissus, orange blossom, and rose.
